& HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
ITS ALL IN THE DETAILS
While you are getting ready, I will be busy capturing special moments between you and your loved ones as well as your bridal party.
Not only that, but this time also presents the perfect opportunity to document all of the details you have spent so much time preparing for.
Make sure to have your ring, shoes, dress and other details available to photograph while you are preparing for the day!
GETTING READY
The location that you choose for getting ready will have a big impact on what kinds of photos you will end up with. Photos taken in low light areas can be dark and sometimes even grainy. To get the best photo, you will want to choose a well-lit room with natural light from windows or doors.
Another thing to remember is to try and ensure that the space you choose to get ready in is clean, free of clutter and spacious. Getting ready can be a nice time to capture genuine emotions, but the atmosphere of the messy room can distract from the genuine moments happening and the beauty of the morning.
For the Men (if I am covering their preparation), please make sure they are all showered and ready to get dressed when I arrive.
I will spend roughly 10 minutes shooting their details (which is also super handy to have all in the one place) and the rest will be them getting ready into their outfits and after they are dressed, it is always nice to get a few shots of them having a drink and relaxing too.
TRY NOT TO POSE
For 95% of the wedding photos, I will capture beautiful, unposed, natural and document style images. That is my aim. In years from now, you will love the images from your wedding day that are authentic, natural and real, rather than the posed and unnatural ones.
So, if you see me shooting your way, resist the urge to turn and smile but continue doing what you're doing. So relax, ignore me (unless I ask for your assistance) and enjoy your day without worrying about where I am with my camera. It makes for some awesome and natural images!
FORMAL FAMILY PHOTOS
There are a few tips I can give you to streamline the sometimes dreaded family portrait time.
I generally shoot family portraits directly after your ceremony. This means everyone is there at the time, and no one has had the chance to wonder off as of yet. Have a list of exactly who is going to be in the photographs and in what order.
Give a copy of this list to a trusty source and get them to round up the relevant guests so when we are photographing one group, the next group will be ready to go. If you decide on the day that you want a few more formal shots, this can, of course, be added at the time. I will give you an information sheet before the day so that you can give me the list in advance.
DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF
Things will come up on the day that might not be part of your plan and that is totally fine. Remember that in the long run people aren't going to notice if there is something missing, or if somethings not in the right place.
Please try to remember that in years from now people will forget all the small details, and only really remember how they felt and the emotion and fun surrounding them on the day. The same goes for you!
